FLOOR FOUNDATIONS
Before you run, you walk.
Before you’re flipping through the air or balancing on someone’s hands, you start by rolling on the floor. These foundational movements introduce you to the sensations of twisting, rotating, inverting and shifting momentum — all while staying safely connected to the ground. These movements build your kinesthetic awareness and proprioception, helping you understand how your body moves, and what it’s capable of.
This workshop is designed to expand your movement toolkit and begin building a personal library of skills. You will explore increasing levels of complexity and challenges, encouraging you to see, think about, and experience movement in new, unexpected ways.
Is an invitation to build strength, unlock creativity, and move with intention — all while having a damn good time.
Starting from a strong foundation, you'll explore how tension, release, and direction can shape your movement. Blending acrobatics with control and coordination, we’ll carve dynamic forms through space.
Using momentum, timing, and contrast, simple movements evolve into expressive, complex sequences. We’ll start with accessible patterns and gradually layer in texture and challenge, building a fluid, creative floor flow.
This is where precision meets play — where movement becomes a conversation between effort and ease.
Where dance, Acrobatics, partnering and parkour meet. This floor work class incorporates techniques and skills from a blend of disciplines which all converge on principles of flow, momentum and dynamic movement. A tasting platter of foundational techniques from each discipline will be offered. Once understood, these ingredients will then help to inform your own practice with more creativity and expression. This will then progress into partner work diving deep into connection, conversation and play within the physicality of our bodies.
